Year 10 College Trips
To support our Year 10 students in preparing for their post 16 choices, we have a number of college trips planned. For more information, please speak to Miss Burlison.
20th June 2024 – New College Durham (all students)
21st June 2024 – QE College, Darlington (selected students)
25th June 2024 – Darlington College (selected students)
9th July 2024 – King James Academy Sixth Form (selected students)
17th July 2024 – Durham Sixth Form (selected students)
Year 6 transition days
Thursday 11th and Friday 12th July – We welcome our year 6 students who will be joining us in September 2024. A transition opportunity for all our new students to experience our school and our staff.
Year 5 Curriculum Weeks
Week beginning 24th June 2024 and week beginning 1st July. We will be welcoming over 650 year 5 students from 17 primary schools. We’re looking forward to an excellent fortnight of activities.
Parental Engagement Evening, 23rd March 2023: Year 9 Options
Your child will shortly be choosing their GCSE ‘option subjects’ in preparation for their start to GCSE studies in Year 10. To ensure students are fully prepared for this important phase in their education, we have a provided our Year 9 students with a substantial programme of support, advice and guidance. This programme has included individual, one to one careers meetings, our Year 9 progress evening, and a taster afternoon where students sample the GCSE subjects they have indicated an interest in studying.
As part of this programme of support advice and guidance, we welcome you to attend our Parental Engagement Evening on 23rd March, 4.00pm. The evening will be an opportunity to:
- see how the options process works;
- ask any questions you may have about the options process;
- speak to the staff who will be delivering GCSE option subjects;
- guidance is available if required
- see examples of what studying that option subject looks like in terms of student work, assessment and enrichment, and
- have first and exclusive access to our online options form so your child can choose their subjects during the evening if they wish to.
We look forward to seeing you on the 23rd March at 4.00pm.

Today is Safer Internet Day!
Students will be learning more about how to stay safe online and the importance of talking to someone about what you see/do online.
